Revelation relies on illumination of the target area with a UV blacklight source. This represents a section of the electromagnetic spectrum of light which extends from the blue end of the visible (400nm) to the UV-A/UV-B boundary (315nm).
Deterring substance abuse in public places
UV blacklight illuminated areas are finding increased use in public amenities. The blue colour of these lights, combined with the fluorescence of the skin makes it harder for intravenous drug users to find a vein. Hence drug users are much less likely to self administer injections under these conditions.
