UV Bulb Change and Mercury Spillage Kit
UV bulbs contain a small amount of mercury and in the event of damage, protection is necessary against release of mercury vapour and potential skin exposure.
This kit has all that is needed, not only to handle the delicate process of UV bulb replacement, but to clean up safely in the event of accidental damage to a UV bulb.
In accordance with Guidance Note EH 17 (revised) from the Health and Safety Executive, users of UV light are advised to have a mercury spillage kit available and prominently located within the working environment where the UV light equipment is operated.
Kit contains:
- High impact resistant safety spectacles
- Lint free nylon gloves - essential when handling or cleaning UV bulbs. This ensures prevention of fingerprints which would burn into the quartz during operation and significantly reduce UV bulb life
- Alcowipes - saturated with 70% v/v Isopropyl Alcohol BP for cleanin UV bulbs and filter glasses.
- Mercury splillage kit - materials and personal protective equipment for safe removal of small mercury spillages which could result in the event of UV bulb breakages. Includes zinc powder, safety spectacles, protective rubber gloves, scoop, spoon, sponge, disposal bag and full instructions for use.
