Our UV lamps and torches are widely used by scrap merchants and metal recyclers who are routinely scanning metals entering their premises for traces of SmartWater.
SmartWater is a forensic coding system which is invisible to the naked eye but glows yellow/green under UV blacklight.
It contains a unique finger print which provides proof of ownership of marked items linking property to its owner and criminals to a crime scene.
SmartWater can be applied to any item of value and is increasingly used to mark metals in an effort to reduce theft related incidents, examples include electrical cables, telecom cables and lead roofing.
Selection of UV light equipment should be optimised for a particular application and depends on the requirements for UV light irradiation area, UV light intensity and ambient light levels.

UV-A 35W Blacklight Torch

- The ultimate portable high intensity UV search light with wide beam and long throw. Provides easy detection of SmartWater in normal lighting conditions.
UV-A 3W High Output Blacklight LED Torch
- Re-chargeable battery operation
- UV wavelength peak output 365 nm
- High intensity UV LED providing easy detection of SmartWater in normal lighting conditions. However compared to the 35W Blacklight Torch it produces a much narrower beam with shorter throw.
UV-A 1W Blacklight LED Torch
- Battery operation
- UV wavelength peak output 370 nm
- In comparison to the UV High Output LED it produces a lower intensity with shorter throw. Therefore the detection of SmartWater will not be so easy and depending on application dimmed lighting may be required.
