UV light inspection for NDT crack detection
UV-A blacklights are used in non-destructive testing for crack detection during the inspection stage of both fluorescent magnetic particle and fluorescent penetrant processes. They are also used at wash stations during removal of fluorescent penetrant.
Defects literally jump out at the inspector due to the dramatic contrast between the bright glowing image of a defect against a dull background.
Examples include; hairline cracks in aircraft landing gear, automotive steering systems and many other safety critical components on which our lives may depend.
We offer a wide range of UV blacklight inspection lamps incorporating high intensity discharge (HID) bulbs, low pressure (LP) tubes and LEDs from hand lamps and torches to light guide systems and large area flood lamps.
Selection of UV light equipment should be optimised for a particular application and depends on the requirements for UV light irradiation area, UV light intensity and process integration.
